I was born in the London suburb of Bromley in 1866 and began my literary career in earnest in 1895 with the publication of my first novel, "The Time Machine" based on the adventures of a fellow writer in the contraption I loaned him. Until this first success, my life had been a patchwork of unsatisfactory drapery and chemist apprenticeships that were interrupted by stints as a teacher's assistant, and eventually acceptance into London's Normal School of Science where I studied biology under the great T.H. Huxley.
I was often the subject of public controversy owing to my attitude on free love and women's rights. I was also a life-long believer in Social Reform as the means to mankind's ultimate civilized salvation. My particular brand of Socialism has nothing to do with the retrogressive Marxist strain and also helped bring me in conflict with other leading Socialist thinkers of my day during my brief stint with The Culigma.
Even before the Great War began I published "The World Set Free" early in 1914. It was a prophetic novel about a world war against Imperial Germany and her "Central European Allies" which included a remarkably accurate forecast of atomic warfare and even coining the term "atomic bomb."
I came to be interested in metaphysics due to my old writer-friend's tampering with technology he didn't fully understand and I only knew the the basics of. You see, the time machine was a gift to me from another traveler who left it in my basement and said "It's not worth it; don't even try." He then told me the basics of the machine and how to repair it, walking out of my home shaking his head muttering "God Damn You All; I told you so!"
I write this in retrospect as I have long since amassed voumes of information for my investigative writing associate and sent the Culigma my reports so that they may file them in the appropriate place.

Position: Podoplia
Level 2
Culigma is a contraction of two latin words Cull (to gather) and Aenigma (Mysteries) to form the meaning "Collectors of Mysteries". It is pronounced "kuhl-ihg-mah" Although the category is interactive writting; The Culigma is a factual group of Gatekeepers dedicated to protection of the Ecto-Sphere and the documentation of paranormal-spiritual events and entities. **See Umberlexicon**
