Aspects of Devi
Devi is worshipped in India many,many forms. She is called other names, such as Parvati as well, but Devi means mother - an aspect of which I am well aquainted.
Here are the six main aspects of Devi.
First of all, there is Devi as Cosmic Force, where she destroys demonic forces that threaten world equilibrium, and creates, annihilates, and recreates the universe. She is the embodiment of the circle of life.
She is also the gentle, radiant dayini where she bestows wealth, fortune, and success.
As heroine and beloved, Devi comes down to earth to provide inspiration for women.
Devi is a protector of villages, towns, and individual tribal peoples.
As a semi-divine force, Devi manifests herself through fertility spirits, and other supernatural forms. As such, she is amongst the most powerful of the gods.
Finally, she is incarnated in female saints, who are born on earth but endowed with deep spirituality and other-worldly powers.
