With her husband, King Priam of Troy, Hecuba had at least (some sources say up to 50!)19 children, including: Hector, Paris, Polyxena, Helenus, Cassandra, Troilus (possibly with the god Apollo), Creusa, Polydorus, and Deiphobus.
After the destruction of Troy, she was given as a war-prize to Odysseus. As he took her to Thrace she discovered King Polymnestor had murdered her youngest son Polydorus, and so Hecuba, in revenge, blinded the King and killed his children. Euripides wrote a play called Hecuba and The Trojan Women in which she is a central figure.
