BAIRKASTATHS
Place of the Birch Trees
Welcome to the stathigg of Thiudareiks, frauja of the Gunthigg Clan, and sworn warrior of the great reiks Airmanareiks, lord of the harja, and ruler of the Gut-thiuda.
The books are unpacked, the mead has been brewed and there is barley bread baking. So take a bench by the fire and relax. I have some wine (from Aquitaine) if you prefer, but I can assure you that the mead is very good.
Are you new to Germania? Then you may want to check out the information on the Welcome to Germania board. It will give you information on choosing a Germanic name or on finding your way around Germania and AW generally.
If there is anything I can help you with, any questions you have or any historical information on the early Germanic tribes, please leave me a message or gram me next time you see me online. As a former Scribe here (now in dignified retirement) I am used to that and will be happy to help you out.
If you have other questions, please gram or send a message to one of the Germanic Scribes, the lovely Anarane Burgundian, the esteemed Odin Knudsson, and the wonderful Dagmar Sigurdsson.

You have probably found your way to the famed Red Boar Tavern by now, and if you haven't introduced yourself on the "Welcome" thread then the Tavern is the best place to make a grand entrance.
But the heart and soul of Germania is its special interest groups. Hugrunar - The World of the Vikings and Angelcynn - The History of Anglo-Saxon England are two of the oldest and most popular academic groups at Germania. The Wanderings of the Tribes covers a broad period, looking at the migrations of the Germanic peoples from the First Century BC to the Sixth Century AD. The Lords of the Plains focuses on the steppe neighbours of the Germanics - the Huns, Alans and Sarmatians. Theudokuntho is a group which concentrates on the history of the Germanic tribes from 100 BC to 300 AD - the period in which they first entered into recorded history. Interested in Germanic languages, ancient and modern? Then you may want to join Kunjarazdôz. And Tolkien fans will find like-minded enthusiasts at Valinor.
My bokahuzd or library is now re-established, so feel free to go there and read my history of the great battle at Adrianople and some other literary trifles I've been tinkerking with. You may also be interested in exploring 'Clades Variana - Home of the Varus Film Project - a little something to keep Romans from getting too arrogant with we (ahem) 'barbarians'.

"No Virginia, The Runes WEREN'T Used for Divination."
Contrary to popular New Age belief, there's actually no evidence that runes were ever used for divination. But just for fun, here's your daily rune stone:
