Aesop, the famed philosopher of Greece, is considered the fables inventor. Aesop's fables are characterized by a concise and essential style. The fables writing style directs the main intention towards the improvement of a specific human conduct yet conceals its design under the disguise of fictitious characters. By the use of speech in characters such as the animals, the trees, or the beasts of the forest, the lesson is kept out of view and becomes accepted as the listener/reader is unconsciously led to have ampathy toward what is honorable or praiseworthy, and indignation against what is unworthy and dishonorable. The true fabulist is a great teacher, a corrector of morals, a censor of vice, and a commender of virtue.
