During the celebration of Tanabata, it is traditional for the festival goers to write a wish on a piece of paper, which they then hang on the branches of a bamboo tree specially constructed for this festival. These paper wishes can be in various shapes, each having its own special significance.

At midnight on the last day of the Tanabata festival, the bamboo tree and its wishes are set afire, in some locales after being set afloat in the local waterway, thus sending the wishes to the gods. Instead of lighting our grove on fire, we decided to keep it open year round as a special place to make wishes.

In keeping with this Tanabata tradition, we invite you to hang your own paper wishes in our bamboo grove. Below are some templates you may use for your wishes, though your wish can take most any form, graphic or verbal. You might even feel moved to write a haiku wish. Be careful what you wish for though, your wish might just come true!
