Inti Raymi 2007: Hand-to-Hand Combat (Tinku) Tournament

How To Play

1. First sign up on the contest page.

2. Then create a fighter on the Create Profile page:

Enter your AW name and a nickname of your choice, then select your attributes.
Click "View Profile" to get your fighter profile number.
Click "Enter Tinku".
Send your profile number to one of the game admins, Topiltzin or Aynara.

3. On Sunday June 24, the game admins will match the fighters up and tell you who you'll be facing. Fighting is simple! Just select 5 of the following actions and gram them to Topi or Aynara when your fight begins. (You can choose the same action more than once):

Possible Actions - Select Five:
Pummel Punch Slap Whip Swing Club Fire Slingshot	Throw Bola Kick Charge Llama or Horse Tackle Taunt Scratch Gouge
Note: Choose actions that are appropriate for your weapon and stance. For example, if you're "On Foot", you cannot use "Charge Llama or Horse". Throw Bola, Fire Slingshot and Swing Club are weapon specific actions.

4. The game admins will post the outcome of the fight here in this thread. The winner of each fight will be the one with the most points at the end of 10 turns. Winners will face one another until we have one Grand Champion.

In addition, all participants will receive an award of 200 sestertii and a plaque.

What Is Tinku?

Tinku is one of the oldest celebrations in South America. The word tinku comes from the Quechua language and means encounter or meeting. This "encounter" was a form of ritual combat between aylluses, or communities. Its purpose? The blood of the fighters was considered an offering for Pachamama, the Mother Earth, to ensure female fertility and abundant crops.
