    Roman Springfest MMV. Help us capture the fugitive Last King of Rome!

    Welcome to the thread of the

    'Catch the King' Hunt

    posted and hosted by Heraklia Aelius.

    Hunting the King will be an all-day activity!

    Tarquinus Superbus

    They seek him here;
    They seek him there;
    Those Romans seek him everywhere!
    Is he in Hellas?
    Is he in with us?
    That demmed elusive - Tarquinius?

    On an early spring night round about 509 BC, the Romans have Finally Had Enough. Their really nasty Etruscan king, Tarquinius Superbus (fondly known as "Tarquin the Proud"), the last of his arrogant line, has been overthrown by that OTHER Brutus and the Romans! The King, a master of disguise, is racing throughout Rome and, indeed, all Italia seeking desperately to escape!

    In the next 18 hours or so, King Tarquin, in disguise or not (but always recognizeable by those large finely-arched royal feet) will be hiding in and about Rome and Italia. It's your job to track him to his lair by means of poems and hints posted on this thread! (don't worry, they will say CLUE so obviously that even a barbarian can read them!). Follow the hints in the poems and find where Tarquin is hiding. It could be a group, a public Roman board, or in a Roman group - pay attention to the clues in the poems! (all magnificently composed by our own Bard, Senex Caecilius). The marvelous disguises of the evil regnant are thanks to that Oriental democrat, Sankira Qin.

    Keep a list of the URLS where you (almost!) catch the king, and then send them to Heraklia@comcast.net as soon as you've got the final list!

    Tarquin will be caught in the end, but those who've found the most hiding places first will win the thanks of a free Republic - not to mention, some very nice prizes! (courtesy of Alerissa Nestor, ever willing to help get rid of kings). Our thanks to all democrats! (or is that Republicans?)

    Tarquin will be moving on every few hours, so keep your eyes peeled! You'll know if you just missed him - you'll find a large, aristocratic footprint as a clue to his former lair!

    Help make Rome a Republic - come help us Catch the King. You can post here if you need help - or more hints! (they may or may not be forthcoming - you know those arrogant Aristos ;) The King's disguises thus far, for those who haven't yet had a glimpse!
