The bustling town of Pompeii welcomes back her citizens!
The matrona Thalia Aemilia has seen much in the great city of Rome - her daughter's wedding to a true citizen, the great temples and sculptures, wonderful buildings and exotic foods and goods from all over the world. She has purchased much, but business calls.. her late husband's carpentry business, specifically, and the need to keep an eye on expenditures and subcontractors who like to try to gouge a poor widow.. and only later realize that this is a mistake, as a poor widow can be every bit as shrewd and inflexible as anyone else.
This morning, Thalia has left her young son in the care of her younger daughter while she takes a much-needed visit to the market.. it seems the shelves are practically bare, and she needs almost every little essential she can think of, from bread to oil. And the market is bustling today beneath a sunny sky. Who else might be abroad today?
