Guidelines
By the
order of the Honorable Ipsissimus, herewith are posted the guidelines
for all to read and follow.
[Should
any dispute or conflict arise, please follow the Conflict Resolution
Guidelines below before publicly displaying anger or engaging in other
such behaviour that no one else in the group wants to experience.]
General
Guidelines ~
1. Have fun! Remember that this is a
GAME and not real life, so don't take it too seriously.
2. Respect your fellow roleplayers.
We follow the Golden Rule here.
3. Don't kill off or harm a character
unless you have that character's permission. This is a big no-no and
bad karma to boot!
4. Communicate as much as possible with
your fellow players about plot, interaction, character creation, etc.
The more open communication, the better! Not to mention this will head
off any problems and misperceptions.
5. If you have a question, then ask!
No questions are "too stupid" or whatever to not be answered.
This is a team effort and everyone helps everyone else along the way.
6. Have an idea for a new Portal storyline?
Please post in the Portals
Planning Hall.
7. It is recommended that you carefully
read the posts prior to posting your own so that the storyline will
flow easily and make sense. Also, be sure to check out any areas that
provide background information, such as the Arcanorium.
8. Should you plan to write another's
reaction(s) in your post, please contact them prior to posting to get
their permission and go over your post so it fits in with both characters'
personalities and styles. This one is quite important and putting it
into practice early on is highly recommended.
9. Please don't embed music in your
posts as many people access the internet from work (those little fanatics!).
10. Some special characters guidelines:
- lawbreakers - if you've chosen
to play this type of character be aware that he/she may suffer the
consequences within the story's parameters of justice. So, don't be
upset if your character is jailed, beheaded or whatever is appropriate
to the time and place's justice system. *eek*
- religious characters - are
to be respected and not insulted for their character's religious beliefs.
Religious venting of personal or political beliefs (and/or agendas)
and religious intolerance are also bad karma!
Conflict Resolution Guidelines~
1. If you have a problem with a player
or post, please contact the individual privately. Raise your
concern in a relaxed and calm manner so that open dialogue can ensue.
It is only fair to allow them the chance to explain their post or action(s).
Please also give them time to respond as they may be in a different
time zone or logged in with a different persona. Public flaming of any
group member is not allowed nor will it be tolerated. {review Guideline
#1 above}
2. If you cannot resolve the issue with
the individual privately, then please contact the group leaders for
assistance. All involved parties can meet and discuss further and continue
the resolution process.
3. Decisions on irreconcilable conflicts
are made by the Group Leaders and are final.
Playing in Portals should be a fun, exciting
and challenging adventure for everyone. If we all cooperate, communicate
and work together, it should prove to be a great success!
