The Saxon Advent

The Adventus Saxonum
Circa AD 449: the "groans of the Britons", the trickle that had, for two centuries, brought Saxon pirates (and later settlers) to Britain became a flood. Within a century and more, the Romano-Celtic island of Britannia would be, along its eastern edge, the land of a Germanic non-Christian people whose drove out with violence the former citizens of the Roman Empire. Although later a civilization would flourish, the Saxon Advent (which led to the myths about King Arthur) was a time of brutality and fear.
