The Tiahuanaco created a trans-Andean empire, developing blueprints for uniting diverse peoples, drawing resources from the region's varied environments and building monumental cities in stone. While the area of Tiahuanaco was already being settled in 1,000 bce, the civilization itself did not reach its apex until around 500 ce and started to decline around 1,000 ce. |
