Taranis, the thunderer, wielder of spoked wheel and lightning bolt.
Several altar inscriptions and a number of bronze votive statues attest to the existence of the god Taranis, in addition to a few references in the classical literature.
He was represented as a mature, bearded, well muscled man with his right hand raised and holding a short thunderbolt; his left hand rested upon a spoked wheel.
