Livy

Titus Livius ( c.59-AD 17) the Augustan historian, is the only substantially surviving Roman historian for the Rebublic. Livy´s style of "creamy richness" is beautifully employed to describe the heroes of early Rome. In his later books he uses good sources -early annalists and Polybius- but you have to remember that he was a patriotic historian -so there can be some distortions.
