Let's talk about ancient Greek philology and poetry!

Philology was created by a cautious study of literature and the need to answer questions, which were occurred by the study. In archaic Greece, poetry was an important element of the school education, and teachers had the need to gather information concerning the teaching materials. We are not sure when that study began but scholars believe that it was between the 7th and 6th century BCE. The name Theages from Rigio (Rhgio) –530 was the first who wrote about Homer's life, chronology, and allegory explanation of his epics. In the 5th and 4th centuries, the study of poetic and literary elements was common (see Plato, Crat., 470b) and used to explain texts by Aristotle, Poetics, or Peri twn Poihtwn & Omhrika Aporhmata (V. Rose, Leipzig, 1886 – no. 70-77 and 142-179).

The main purpose of this thread is the study, explanation and thoughtful debate regarding ancient Greek literature and poetry.
