Chosen by the Senate after Domitian's murder, the elderly Nerva chose to adopt a strong successor - Trajan - who would return Rome to stability.
30 - 98 A.D. Marcus Cocceius Nerva, an experienced politician, used his brief two years as Emperor to break the cycle of internecine wars for the Imperial throne by adopting Trajan.
