We have released the first version of a new bulletin board system for AncientWorlds. The new Boards should be much faster with improved graphics and layout. After a few days of testing, this new code base will be applied to the city and group pages as well.

AS the site has grown, so too has the database and the code base (all the code that runs the site). People may have noticed page loades becoming slower and slower over time.

The new code base that has been developed is much more efficiet and easier to work with. ot only should we see immediate speed improvements as each pages are ported over to the new code base, but new feature development, such as trivia engine and tours, should be faster and more robust.

The new code base is talking to the existing database and for a time, the old and new display of the bulletin boards will be viewable. Over the next few days, fewer and fewer links will go to the old system. However, this means that you may find yourselves back in the old system now and then. You can always return to the new system by clicking on the "Board Msgs" link in the masthead on each page and go from there.

We welcome all comments and bug reports that you may feel like writing as you use the new board system. Please keep in mind that the layout of the board pages and the new Board Central with Daily Index will be changing a bit over the next few day.

Once all the site pages have been migrated to the new code base, we will be able to invite the Google crawler back in. We have been denying it for about 6 months beacuse it taxed the server too much. With faster page loads we will be able to handle Google's worst. This means the site will be indexed at Google and hopefully get more traffic coming in.

When commenting on the new system, please add your observations of the speed of page loads since this was the primary reason for the recoding.
