    Féige (the "roof tree")

It is customary to touch the féige or branch of the roof tree by the door upon entering, as a sign of respect and to bless all within.

In the Irish tradition, no questions are asked of travelers who come to the door. Hospitality is given freely, as the law requires. Kindred and friends are most welcome. Under this roof, strangers may remain strangers, or strangers may become friends. Tell a story if you like, give us your news, gossip, or just talk about the weather. Or, if you'd rather, say nothing. All are equally welcome. Be at ease in Dún Dair.
