AW will welcome, as our guest for the Americas, the noted Maya expert and environmental activist, Dr. Richard Hansen. President of the Foundation for Anthropological Studies and Environmental Science (FARES) and the leader of archaeological conservation in Guatemala backed by the Global Heritage Fund (GHF). Dr. Hansen will discuss his work with the Mirador Basin, historical home of the ancient Maya.

From Sunday, February 10, through Wednesday, February 20, AW is honored to welcome Dr. Richard Hansen for a Symposion on the Maya. President of the Foundation for Anthropological Studies and Environmental Science (FARES) and the leader of archaeological conservation in Guatemala backed by the Global Heritage Fund (GHF), Dr. Hansen is not only a noted expert in Maya history, culture, and anthropology, but works world-wide in drawing support for preservation of The Mirador Basin. He was also a consultant to Mel Gibson in the making of the film "Apocalypto".

Dr. Hansen will be posting under the very Maya name of Kan Ahau Kawiil. Special thanks to FireStorm Acoma for her lovely decoration of his wasi.
