Our odyssey begins in the closing days of a most foreboding celtic winter. Where the Hag Goddess of Winter, Cailleach, still remaining the determined old phiseogach from ages past, once again desires nothing less than to strengthen her icy embrace around our fair land. As she herds her deer from windy hilltop to snow filled valley she carrys along her wintery walking staff that freezes the very ground on which it strikes. Each stroke holds fast winter's grip on the land and chills the cold hard earth beneath her feet. All know surely there will be a time soon for the coming of a fairer season when winter and spring must make their divide. A time when the people of the land, ever yearning for the first signs of spring, will again receive the blessings of rebirth. All this will truely come to pass when our beloved Goddess Brighid of Imbolc Springtime brings with her the cycle of renewed life and the ever increasing warmth from the celtic sun. Then the new lambs of spring will be born in the luscious green meadows to be suckled by their attentive ewes. Then to the sweet scented flowers of spring will slowly raise their unfolding faces and the lyrical sounds of the Celtic Songbird will again be heard among the budding trees.

Alas this is as well a time of uncertain destiny. Will our beloved Goddess of the Eternal Flame bring with her the genesis of new life and renewal or will the Hag of Winter have her way and bind the land to the continued curse of winter's grip? Sadly enough the deceptive one, Cailleach, has magically constructed a prison of ice and stone around our fair Brighid trapping her in the Hag's high hilltop fortess and thus preventing her from continuing her journey of springtime rebirth. Furthermore around her prison fortress Cailleach has skillfully conjured a stony labyrinth so arduous as to foil the most valiant effort to free our Bright Goddess of the Gael. So my brave warriors rise up for Celtia's sake, she needs her strongest and wisest Champions for this quest of utmost importance. As Celtia's Champion you can make the critical difference in the well being of her people. It will be your mission, if you feel you are a match for such a challenge, to traverse this stony maze and rescue our beloved Brighid from Cailleach's Prison Fortress of Ice and Stone. And in doing so bring back to our fair land the warm sweet return of Brighid's springtime blessings and break the cold icy bonds of Cailleach's winter grip.
