To celebrate the Celestial Cow Festival, a 'roundabout' story, written in real time, with each person posting only 'eight' words to begin or complete each sentence.

    THE PLOT...
Mehet-weret, Lady of the Sky, the Celestial Cow Goddess, resides in the House of Horus in the netherworld realm of the gods. She is pleased the peoples of Ancient Worlds have decided to honour her in their end of year festival.

However, as thrilled as she is with the adulation, Mehet-weret is in a quandry. Her scared Menat collar, a gift from the great sun god Ra, is missing. The collar is an ancient jewelled amulet of gold , decorated with stars and inlays of blue faiance, turquoise, lapis lazuli, green jasper, and cornelian. The collars heavy gold counter-balance is carved with spells, prayers and divine images.

The Cow Goddess has torn her beautifully appointed palace apart in her search for the missing collar. Sistrums, robes, cosmetics, papyrus scrolls, rare alabaster nick-knacks and costly unguents lie discarded and untidily strewn across the polished pink granite floor.

Unhappy and weeping over her loss, Mehet-weret now sits under her scared sycamore tree sipping a fine persea wine and contemplating her options. She believes she could have left the Menat collar in Egypt during her last visit. After all, she did have that encounter with the sacred Apis Bull at the city of Men-nefer and naturally, there was quite a lot of wine involved. She decides that she will travel to the festival and using the Eye of Ra, search the river, the temples, the markets, the taverns, the hoods and find her collar in time for the Celestial Cow Avatar Ball.

    HOW IT WORKS...
The idea is simple... to write a story in real time describing the Celestial Cow's search in Egypt for her missing Menat collar. Each person adds to the story by writing and posting... eight words only.

Example... I write... 'In the land of Egypt, Mehet-weret storms...'
Next person writes and posts... 'into the great temple of Hathor and confronts...'
Next person writes and posts... 'a terrified and bumbling priest who is astonished...'
Next person writes and posts... 'to have the cow goddess manifest before him.'
Next person writes and posts... 'You there! Spotty minion! Stop cowering!' she cries.
Next person writes and posts...'I want this temple searched from top to...
    Etc etc etc.

I'll begin... after I have posted my opening eight words, each participant is invited to carry on and finish or begin the sentence.
