Unhewn stones or boulders found standing upright, they served as monuments in prehistoric times. The monolith was set on or near a grave. The shape is rough and squared, tapering near the top. The size varies; large and small stones are found in patterns such as the cromlech [stone circle], where a large menhir is surrounded by smaller stones. From this lines of small menhirs form a series of alleys called alignments. The special geometry provoke the occurrence of very strange phenomena.
