    THE PAINTED STONE

November is the month when The Tsalagi people give thanks to their friends who have reached out to them over the year. So many have helped us over the course of this year that we have decided to put up a stone near to Kituwah mound and inscribe upon it the names of the friends of Kituwah Territory. The mound itself has the ashes of many hearths from around the world and we would remember the names of the friends who contributed them. Many have contributed to our graphics contests and many have planted crops in our garden. Friends have built scarecrows and fasioned corn husk dolls. They have given gifts to our goddess, Selu and made quilt squares for our quilt. They have decorated gourds and contributed food to our thanksgiving feast. These kindnesses shall not be forgotten. Let it be known to all peoples that the names below inscribed are forever
