Graphic by Senex Caecilius The Roman GoldFest this October 13-15, Meditrinalia & Fontinalia, will include events which include meeting, greeting, having fun - and loads of history! Traditionally Meditrinalia was the festival of the new wine, in honour of both the goddess of medicine Meditrina and Jupiter, as a god of wine. Fontinalia, for its part, continued the Meditrinalia celebrations - it is quite likely Romans were healing their hangover with some more wine and water from the fountains - as a festival to honour the fountains of Rome. Thus, in October, Rome will be seeing an unpreceded combination of wine and water flowing!

Events of Meditrinalia & Fontinalia

Most of the Meditrinalia & Fontinalia events have already been planned and scheduled, although later changes are of course possible. All festivities will be conducted at the Meditrinalia topic, except for the Great Satyre of the last day, which will take place at The Theatre of Marcellus.

Although Meditrinalia and Fontinalia were traditionally celebrated a couple of days earlier, our festivities are a part of the overall site Goldfest and thus, the days allocated to Rome are October 13-15. Each day, the festivities will be conducted at 10 and 11 am, as well as 3, 5, and 7 pm. The order of specific types of events planned will also vary so that as many citizens as possible could catch at least one item to their liking!
