I have enjoyed GoldFest in my quiet little way, but I think I would have enjoyed it a lot more if it had been half as long with half the number of events. The activities have been fun and imaginative, and one has to appreciate the thought and effort volunteers have put into them, but by Day 4 one gets to feel quite jaded by the sight of the regular 'party-goers' getting virtually tipsy to the accompaniment of YouTube videos in yet another world *crosses eyes*.

But.... I think enough has been said about whether AW has too many festivals or not, so I'm not stepping into that river again. Well, only dipping a toe into it - just to comment that I personally would enjoy a shorter festival with one good and well thought-out event from each world, and just one virtual piss-up (at the end), which wouldn't halt all other business on the site for not just the duration of the Fest but weeks leading up to it.

I suppose one's attitude to GoldFest depends on whether one subscribes more to Aristotle's "Everything in moderation", or Oscar Wilde's "Moderation is a fatal thing. Nothing succeeds like excess." Myself, I am a fan of the Golden Mean.
