    The suggestion was a very good one and impoved the clarity of the article a lot.

    I was only just re reading Tom Holland's take on the purpose of the charade, He holds the popular opinion that Caesar staged the whole thing to show what a good guy he was before taking off for The East. I think this the obvious interpetation, but maintain it must have crossed Caesar's mind that he just might have gotten away with it. Either way, he won.
