Here I am, standing in the middle of some XLVI sacks of "stuff". How am I going to unload all this junk… erm… these treasures, and turn it into something more portable… like cash? Guess I’ll have to take Germaniae’s suggestion. I detail IV of the guys to seek out the local carpenter’s shop and purchase X stout tables, V cubits long by II cubits wide. I send another pair off to find some stiffened papyrus and charcoal sticks. Another trio goes in search of Omar the Tentmaker, with the charge of buying one large canopy to shield us from this blistering sun. A quartet of my strongest, I send back to the Kash Bowl (with money, of course) for a keg of their best. The rest I set to work sorting through the sacks and organizing things into like piles.
"OK! Brass fertility gods and goddesses over here!" I make a mark in the dust with my sword. "Prayer plaques go here! Fetishes, philters and phylacteries in this spot! Portable shrines here, prayer rugs there. Napkins blessed by Reverend Ike go at the end of the line."
"Household goods go in this line. Plates and platters go here! Cups and other drinking vessels here! Eating utensils here… No, Mattias… that’s a short sword. Pots, pans, kettles and cauldrons here. Candlesticks, Arabian lamps and Tiki Torches go in this pile. Weapons and armor, sorted by size and type, go in this line. Furniture goes in this one. Men’s clothing over here, ladies clothing here, harem costumes in this pile.
My errand boys soon return with the goods and I set some to work erecting the tent. The tables arrive by camel express cart and are placed in the shade of the large canopy. The guys with the papyrus are put to work making signs:
VI Family
GARAGE SALE
Wednesday and Thursday, Only
Across the Street from
The Kash Bowl
When the signs are finished, send half the I/X Legion out to nail them to palm trees all over town. Hopefully, we’ll get some business.
