it is of course, from the Greek and
originally indicated a narrow band of white fabric knotted at both ends
and tied around the forehead allowing the long ends to rest upon the shoulders.
It was a symbol of a king, but in modern English I think the term, "crown"
conveys that symbolic meaning more clearly as that has now become our
universal symbol of kingship. It would probably be best to explain that
in the text . Indeed a short explaination inserted would be a good idea.
