The Dal Riada of northern co. Antrim, Ulster settled in the western coast of Scotland during the 3rd to the 7th centuries: the Dunadd and Cean Tir Hoods in Pictland.

Also during this time, the Dal Riada of Leinster and Munster settled in Gwynedd, Wales: the Caer Gai Hood in Cymru.
