About 6 years ago, I tripped over an extension cord in a classroom, fell on my right knee and tore some cartilage, specifically, my right medical meniscus.
This soon required surgery. Fortunately, arthroscopic surgery. Since I was pretty much familiar with this type of surgery from my work of many years in workers comp claims and watching/taping "The Operation" on TLC cable channel, I was very disappointed when they put me under with general anesthesia to do it instead of a local so I could watch. They wouldn't even video tape it for me (since it is all on video anyway) but they did take pics of the inside of my knee, before and after the cartilage removal.
I was further disappointed when they didn't feel it was necessary to use medical leeches to bring down the ginormous bruise I ended up with due to the post-op Ace wraps. I wanted to see the little suckers in action, plus I wanted to get rid of that really nasty looking bruise.
Needless to say, it pretty much creeps out my middle school students when I tell this story. I enjoy that.
