For one of my classes, I had to read a book which I have just finished by Umberto Eco called Baudolino, which is set at the fall of Constantinople with an Italian who just happens to save Niketas Choniates from big Latin thugs. The book is a riotous mix of jokes with both lashes at the Byzantines and Latins alike.
