been interested with this debate and with the possibility that Alfred could have been a symbol for Arthur it is not impossible, but then again we know that Arthur could have existed many times. How many times before the Norman conquest was England invaded, how many peoples travelled from Europe to England, in each period going as far back as the stoneage would have had a leader protecting his people.
