When you read the old celtic legends (irish one for exemples) you ca see even with the deformation of the christian priest that the women have different power and obligations that the man. One of the basic characters of the celtic's legends is the wise woman who teatch to the hero (not exactly the greek sens of the world) the art of fighting and almost every time of love.
n an other hand in pre christian Irish the kindomship propiety was in hand of the queen not the king. The man must married the queen to became king.
If you wan't I can find in my library some exemple of this but not tonight (here it's 3 AM !) just ask for.
For all of that I think that women in celtic society were in fact "egal but different" that men. They have like in Huron's society a role in the society different of the men but was not inferior to the men.
