There's been some discussion between several group members dealing with the way of writing in ROME. How to write this story? Follow the series to boot, or write yer own thing? Now, as the founder of this group and one of its leaders (aye, making meself even bigger than big for a time...), I can tell all of you, that there's no special way to go in writing the story here. "ROME" is not a group with very strict rules here. First, we have a basis to follow, which is the HBO/BBC series "ROME", seasons 1 & 2. This fact is to be used as a guideline for all our writings here. A guideline is here to help you. How you interpret it while writing is totally up to you. Secondly, there are some general guidelines for roleplaying in general. These guidelines by Cornellia Cornelius and Maria Marius can be found in the main page of our group. These are the steadfast guidelines to write by.

To keep all people quite comfortable writing their posts, I think it's vital that we all get to write our posts the way we want to write them, either if it's keeping very close to the orginal script and screenplay of the series, or weaving our own things into the story. The boards called "Fictional Roleplay" are, and just let me be clear about this, the series as it was aired, cuz this series has a great deal of fiction, away from historical facts, in itself, to begin with. That's why I created two threads for "Historical Roleplay" as well, for those who want to write the "real" historical story, i.e. the way things happened back then according to the historians' and historical researchers' accounts.

But "Fictional Roleplay" also means that we can weave our own fictional details into the main FR (i.e. series') story, while keeping the main story intact to serve as our guideline. Cuz we need some sort of guideline story to write upon.

This is why every sort of writing is welcome in the fictional field. Close to the script or not. It can never be boring. Some have a way to "play" with the series' story and still stay close to the storyline, while others just don't feel sure enuff whether they could or should deviate or not..But this should never be a problem.

I don't think that anyone of you discussing this would like to comment on eachother's writing style. Nope, Pullo really doesn't think that. Yet, before it starts becoming a real issue, I ask all of you to just relax and be happy with everyone's writing. If you think you can do a better writing thing in yer own character posts, just go ahead and show it off then! :DD There's nothing wrong with some competition in writing, as long as we accept eachothers writings as genuine and don't start putting eachother off from writing. It's already hard enuff to get a bunch of people together to write a story..And of course our goal is to add to the HBO "ROME" series screenplay. And we will, all in our own way, some by sticking close to the orginal script and others by deviating a wee bit. Thus, everybody will have his/her own reasons to fill yet another writing page in our fab group!
