    are out. If you are looking to upgrade or add a DVD writer to your system check out a SATA drive first. The OEM versions can be had for less than $35 from places like NewEgg. SATA throughput is greater than eIDE and newer systems tend to have one eIDE header and many SATA II headers. Given that one eIDE header can service two IDE devices there may not be a connection for the new device without replacing an existing one. Check that you have an available SATA II header and SATA power connector. If your PSU doesn't have SATA connectors, you can get an adapter for use on standard 4 pin Molex connectors.
