THE
ENTRANCE COURTYARD
The entire palace is built of local brick and
limestone in the rectangular design of the ancient city. There
is a bathing pool as local tradition requires that visitors
bathe before entering the palace. Four Banyans have been planted
to cool the area and the free roaming peacocks enjoy the shade.
In the heat of the day, it is most often deserted, but in the
evenings it is a popular gathering place for the resident staff
of the palace.
