Najia, bless her heart, has just handed me a rare volume that she found in the library of the Petit Trianon. This is a map of the maze that Valentino has found himself in. In our 20th century time, this maze no longer exists. It is at the opposite end of the orangery. It is not here where we heard his voice. If we could get the map to him, what difference would it make? If he finds his own way out, what century will he be in? He would have to be a real magician to accomplish such a task.

Could all of this just be a hoax?

Najia and I will return to the city. Shane and Lara MacRoth will stay here. Shane keeps camping equipment in the boot of his motorcar.

As we make our way back to the car park,the fireworks light our way. I wonder if this display is only for us?

I give them the map. They even have a few candles for an emergency.

We wish them luck and go our separate ways.

As we drive back toward Paris, Najia is very quiet, and I wonder what she is thinking?
