We will not abandon him. We came here together, a party of five. We will not leave until all of our group are accounted for. What do you think we are? The little shop girl of Montmartre looks me in the eye and says, "Your M. Valentino is a magician and he is playing some kind of a trick. This is nothing but a cheap publicity stunt. What do you think I am? You leave him alone and he will come home. Just you wait and see. Soon the fireworks will start. After that the park will be in total darkness. It is dangerous here when there is no light. If the moon goes behind the clouds you could all vanish and no one would ever even know that you had been here. M. Valentino is an illusionist. He needs publicity to launch a new career. I have seen his paintings. I know his work. I even think he is faking an injury to his right arm. He expects us to just give him all the publicity he needs to make himself famous. He will call himself the man who has beat time and the last enemy death. Well this is Paris! Enough of this Egyptian trickery. I warn you, and I do not threaten you. You have seen enough for one day. Soon the fireworks will start. Leave now before it is to late."
