An Oath of Vengeance
I give my oath, not to Lugh, but to Crom!
For Lugh is Lord of light and I am light no more.
For Lugh is a God of laughter, and I can laugh no more.
For Lugh is a God of right, and I am no longer right with the world.
To Crom Cruach, the crooked one, the dark one,
Who works his warped ways from the shadows,
Who laughs at pain and torment and sorrow.
To Crom Dubh, the black god, kin to the raven,
Who revels in blood and death and loss.
Who reigns over the dark time of the world.
Who dices with the Morrigan for the leftovers of battle.
I pledge my heart and my life and my very soul,
That I shall have revenge upon those who burned me.
That I shall have revenge upon those who killed me.
That I shall have revenge upon those who trampled me.
To the lord of the dark time I make this pledge.
For a part of me was burned in the fires of Inver Colpa.
A part of me died with the noble War Chief, Dobhar.
A part of me was trampled in the bloody mud of the keep.
Lord Crom, hear my oath and my pledge!
That I will show no mercy to those who are outlaw,
Be they Cumhaill, MacRoth or cast out from their clan.
I will neither ask for quarter nor give the same.
For Crom, I seal this oath in the blood of my body.
See how I slice my palm with my fine dagger!
See how the blood flows freely from the fresh wound!
See how the blood drips upon the dark altar of Crom!
This is my oath, my dark oath, sworn to Crom!
