I just stumbled onto this little page and am very happy to see that Sparta is alive and well... I am not one to run around and correct people but I did want to throw my two cents in here. I am a bit obsessed with the 300... and Dienekes in particular. History says that Dienekes actually said that to an ally. A warrior from Trachis (an ally in that battle) told Dienekes that the persians said that their arrows will blot out the sun. 'Good. Then we will fight in the shade.' was his famous reply. Granted this is from Herodotus who may not be 100% accurate on each of the stories he passes down. Never let facts get in the way of a good story. = P
