A big topic of the symposion with Jot during Decennalia consisted of a lot of complaints about the amount of festivals currently on AW. I did not answer these criticisms at the synposium as I thought them off the stated topic.I shall do so here where it seems more appropriate.First there is the simple math. each world is entitled to its own festival once a year. There are 8 worlds and therefore eight regular festivals which should account for eight of the 12 months in a year. That leaves four. There are traditionally 2 site wide festivals each year and that makes 10 months out of the year leaving 2 months in which special festival events such as our tenth aniversary can be held. By my math, it would seem that we are committed to one festival a month for ten months out of the year and likely that there shall be more. It's automatic. It's just a fact of math.Festivals would not occur if there were not considerable participation. Just a glance at the stats will tell you that there is. Participation seems to me to be the bottom line here. In late June to Early July there were days with as little as 40 posts in 24 hours. During Decennalia, there were two days with 500 posts or more. The figures are there and they don't lie.
