For the record, I'm just gonna list some funny stuff that happened over the years. I wont list a bunch of thank yous to those that helped because frankly without Sankira Qin here posting (he's on sabbatical still) this thread may turn into a huge shrine for him. Without his scheming and partnership in pretty much every Orient concept I'd be left with nothing note worthy that happened or was created and the Orient would be a dust bunny. Maybe that's my opinion, but he truly did the most astonishing amount of work in this site and especially this world.
So I'm digging through my pavillion, reading old posts and laughing, trying to think of what to highlight from those two years (I wasn't a scribe for two years, but from Orient committee conception till my scribal retirement was almost exactly two years). It's harder than you'd think!
I hit "post lists bottom" to see what the very first post I made as Lalita Ashoka was.. guess what? It was Sankira buys drinks for a week! made NOT IN THE ORIENT folks but in Meso's Kash bowl. I find that hilarious and totally appropriate! The cool thing with the Orient was this: every single persona who joined with us in that first two or even three months, every persona, was an already established persona elsewhere in the site. They did it for the same reason we all have multiple personas "wouldnt it be cool to have a Japanese/Chinese/Indian/Indonesian etc persona? Wonder what that new world is going to be like?" I remember conversations going on for weeks ahead of time in grams "what name are you going to pick? What heritage are you going to go with?" "I'll be a geisha!" or "I'm going to be Shogun, no wait. Emperor!"
It was so exciting!!
By the time we opened the doors, people had everything ready to rock and roll. Avatars picked out, furniture, backgrounds, even group concepts! There were new groups that were created literally in the first week. Maybe as many as 7 or 8 of them. First week!
And one of the worlds we were instantly friendly (and foe!) with for several reasons was Mesopotamia. They were small like us, their scribes were funny and good friends of both Sank and myself. They could take a joke. lol (Caileadair comes to mind) They are so funny. Leah and her Babylon Beat. Anyway, Sank and I went slumming into the wilds of Mesopotamia many times and came back with black eyes, stolen wallets, prison rap sheets. It was hilarious.
So fitting that my first post was made with our sister in crime AW City! Here's a cheer to all those wild Babylonian nights. *huge wink at Zig*
This may not seem overly Orient goings on to you, but it was this spirit between our budding new world and all the others that made those first years SO FUN!
few facts.
They once captured and kidnapped Bao Bei, Orient's pet panda mascot, in an attempt to MILK HIM and make his milk into cheese. You thought I was twisted?
The Meso's once graffitti'd the great wall of China (or a graphic of it anyway!)
The Meso's were once paid for ransom with a cheese doodle, thinking it was Sankira Qin's big toe.
Jojo, the original Godfather of the Orient and of Meso, has done VERY bad things to cartoon ponies.
No, Godfather!!
I'll dig up some different funny weird things later. It's all true!
