I'm glad to be here. Maybe I can gather some tips and tricks so that I won't have such a "black thumb."
I don't have a recipe to share, but I did hear of a gardening trick yesterday on the Gestalt Gardener show.
You take plastic soda bottles (don't gasp yet--I know, ugh, plastic), put a hole in the bottom and then bury them between your plants--about half the length of the bottle should be in the ground. Then add your water, lime (for those plants who like acidic soil) and plant food into the bottle and it feeds into the soil right at the root level so that there's not the danger of blistering the leaves.
I came home and did it yesterday, but the jury's still out on how well it'll work.
