Actually, the AUla Consiliare is were the town council meets. The Aula is in the Palazzo Senatorio, which is the seat of the town city hall (on the Capitol hill).
So, I guess you can say that it is kind of ironic... after 2000 years of discussions on whether Caesar overturned the republic government in Rome... a lot of decisions on Rome are taken in the shadow of its statue... and laws are passed under his watchful eyes...
