The daughter of a now deceased younger brother of Earl Wingham, Anne was raised at Delmonte, the earl's seat, and educated at home with her cousins. She was presented at Court in 1878. The following year she entered into a marriage arranged by Baron Montverre and Earl Wingham with the Baron's younger son, Sir Horace Hathaway Montverre. Her only son, William Charles Albert Montverre, was born later that year. Admiral Sir Horace and Mrs. Montverre also have a daughter, Cecily Victoria Alexandra Jane Montverre, Miss Montverre.
