With their pace slowed by the weather, and the need to scout, the army of Consul Nero made steady progress on their march east. When they reached Aspendus the news they received was of large cavalry forces ahead, and these could be seen hovering in the distance as their advance continued. They very much outnumbered the Roman cavalry.

To the surprise of Nero’s men, however, there was no attack on them, or any attempt to halt their progress. They arrived at Side in the last week of the month to be greeted with the news that the enemy had packed up their siege a few days before, no doubt on learning of the Roman army on the way, and had retreated north. Side had been relieved.

Meanwhile the Army rested outside the city whilst the Consul (soon Proconsul), decided his next move.

Note: Nero and his army are at Side for the end of the month. No further orders this month, please PCN. Your campaign will have to be fought out under the new management.
