Young Caesar and the two sexmenstris tribunes confer.
"Perhaps we might just make ourselves scarce and escape through the mountains?" asks legion VII's sexmenstris tribune.
"That's certainly our best option, but we must make sure we don't fall into an ambush."
"So, what do we do? Send small scouting parties?" asks legion VIII's sexmenstris tribune.
"Get the native guides we've been using. Ask them about possible ways of escape We want to know about pathways, waterways, and possible ambush spots. Let some of them go with a few of our men to try and find out if there are more of the enemy than we can see now and where they may be. In the meantime, cut wood. Make large piles just behind our first line - keep the first line in evidence. As soon as we get answers, we move behind the piles, set them on fire and make our escape under cover of smoke."
"Why not just wait for nightfall?" asks legion VIII's tribune.
"Because that's what they probably expect us to do. I want us out of here before that. We ride in Defense: Slight Resistance mode. We aim for Perga, but we stick to the mountains and if we must we take the longest way around."
