If you do lighten the text, might I suggest that you change it to the same colour as the innermost border colour (#DEC33D). I did a quick test in Photoshop and it still looks ok and is lighter than the current colour. Also fits in with the colour scheme.

We can only offer our opinion on what it looks like from our end. It's up to you whether the change is necessary. If it's only one or two who have had problems with the message, then I probably wouldn't consider making a major overhaul. If you are getting constant complaints, then yes, I'd probably revamp the message.
