Since the advent of the neighborhoods, group activities all over AW have slowed down to a crawl. Once the source of most AW posts, groups now account for very few. The plethora of open boards throughout the worlds it would appear, has made group participation hit an all time low. For years I fought for inter group activities and inter world cooperation and it seems I got more than I bargained for. Those groups which continue to get a lot of participation are in the main, social threads such as taverns and inns with open boards. These are very good for AW and I love seeing the numbers of posts at the end of the day, but I miss the historical content of the groups and would like to encourage more activity in them.In past years we had a few festivals per year and they were treats. Now we seem to have an endless round of festival after festival with new ones being born it seems, every day. The result appears to me to be better stats and less ancient history; that is a loss. I hope that we, as group leaders, can make an effort to increse serious group participation not only in Hellas, but also throughout the site.If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. There are big plans afoot for our 10 year anniversery celebration, "The Decenallia". Here is a great opportunity to bring the groups foreward again. I intend to attempt to get a project started in my groups to write a history of the group over the years as a peripheral event in the celebration by starting a thread in the group and encouraging members to add to it. I hope to be able to link a series of group histories together which will become a part of the event and ask other group leaders to consider doing the same. Here is an opportunity to involve members who ordinarily do not participate in festivals and social threads while stimulating involvment in waning groups. There is plenty of time to get this activated as Decenallia is not planned until July 20th through 22nd. It is a small project in each group and as it is about the group, should revive interest. We could all give it a try....
