The Paracas culture is known for their beautiful textiles and while I've seen several images in books, I hadn't had the opportunity to see one face to face until today. I was visiting the Dallas Museum of Art and was pleasantly surprised when I turned a corner to be faced with what can only be described as a gorgeous Paracas textile.
To study it closely was to be amazed by the precision, skill and technique used in creating it. The weave was very tight and across the entire item were designs in brilliant colors. I was able to take a few photographs of it, but until that roll of film is developed, I won't know if they turned out. If luck is with me and they have, I'll make sure to post them here.
